What is silicon barium inoculant?

The silicon-barium inoculant is a large metallurgical material prepared from silicon powder and barium powder in proportion to high-temperature furnace steelmaking according to needs. It is an additive in the casting process, which can promote graphitization and reduce the tendency of white mouth. , Improve the morphology and distribution of graphite, increase the number of eutectic groups, refine the performance of the matrix structure, and have a good effect in a short time (about 5×8 minutes).

Silicon barium (long-acting inoculant) content: Si: 68%-72%, Ba: 2%-5%


1. Gray iron castings can greatly increase the graphitized iron core, refine the graphite, obtain A-type graphite, and improve the strength. The graphite in the ductile iron can be small, round, or spherical.

2. It can effectively reduce the subcooling of molten iron, promote the precipitation of graphite, significantly reduce the tendency of white mouth, reduce the relative hardness of the casting, and improve the cutting performance of the casting.

3. Strong anti-decay ability. The anti-decay time is twice that of 75 silicon. The amount of silicon barium inoculant is less than half of that of 75 silicon ferrosilicon inoculant, and the related spherical decay is prevented.

4. The wall thickness is less sensitive, the uniformity of the section is improved, and the tendency to shrink and loosen is reduced.

5. The chemical composition is stable, the processing particle size is uniform, and the deviation between composition and quality is small.

6. Low melting point (less than 1300°), easy to absorb and melt during inoculation, with very little scum.

The particle size of silicon barium inoculant: 0.2-0.8mm flow inoculant, 1-3mm, 3-8mm.
